Dr Gaffield earned his MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1994, followed by an internship and residency in general surgery at Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania. He then completed a residency in plastic surgery at Hershey Medical Center, Penn State University. Before relocating to Australia, he refined his surgical expertise in private practice in Philadelphia. In Queensland, he worked at Bundaberg Base Hospital before founding Pacific Plastic Surgery in 2005. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
